The MUTA Education Committee is pleased to announce the call for applications for the 2026 MUTA Education Scholarship Program. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of merit and is open to full time undergraduate students enrolled in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), medicine, and allied medical programs at Nigerian universities. One qualified recipient will be selected from each of the 14 Tiv speaking Local Government Areas in Benue State, and one recipient each from Taraba State and Nasarawa State.
Award Details
The Committee plans to award up to 16 scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic year. The amount of each award will be determined and announced after the selection process is completed. In the previous year, award recipients received N150,000.00, an equivalent of $100.00. The scholarship may be used to support tuition, academic fees, research expenses, or other costs directly related to undergraduate study.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
1. Applicants must be currently enrolled as undergraduate students in a STEM field, medicine, or an allied medical discipline.
2. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 5.0 scale, equivalent to a second class upper division, or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Applicants who do not meet the minimum CGPA requirement will not be considered, even if they have the highest CGPA within their Local Government Area.

Applicants must complete the electronic application form available at https://form.jotform.com/mutascholarship/ms2026 or by clicking the Apply button on MUTA website. All required supporting documents must be uploaded with the application.
Required Supporting Documents
1. Personal Statement: A two page double spaced essay explaining why the applicant deserves the award. The statement must address academic achievements, community service, career goals, and financial need.
2. Certificate of Origin: An official document from the applicant’s State or Local Government confirming their place of origin.
3. CGPA Verification Form: Applicants must download the CGPA verification form from the MUTA website at https://muta.org/verification-form and have it completed and signed by the Academic Officer or Head of Department of their institution. Applications submitted without this form will not be considered.
Evaluation Criteria
Eligible applications will be reviewed based on the following criteria:
1. Academic standing - CPGA (50%)
2. Strength of personal statement (40%).
3. Community service (10%)
Any application containing false or misleading information will be disqualified.
Deadline and Notification
All completed applications and supporting documents must be received no later than 11:59 PM on Wednesday April 15, 2026 [US EST (GMT-5)].
Successful applicants will be notified by email. Applicants who are not selected will not receive individual notifications. The list of award recipients will be published on the official MUTA website at www.muta.org and shared on MUTA Education social media platforms during the second or third week of June.
The awards will be presented at a formal ceremony scheduled for July or August 2026. The exact date will be announced when confirmed.
